Iran has claimed responsibility for attacks targeting US military bases in Bahrain and Kuwait, following a second consecutive night of American air strikes on Iranian cities.
Explosions were reported across several Iranian locations along the Strait of Hormuz, including Bushehr, Chabahar, Bandar Abbas, Sirik, Jask, and Abu Musa Island. Iranian media said at least one person was killed in Iranshahr.
US President Donald Trump described the strikes as “retribution” for what Washington alleges were Iranian attacks on vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
Meanwhile, the late Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei is scheduled to be buried in his hometown of Mashhad, after millions participated in funeral processions in the Iraqi cities of Najaf and Karbala.
Elsewhere in the region, Israeli forces continued military operations in Gaza and southern Lebanon, with reports indicating at least eight people were killed in the Palestinian territory and two men died in Nabatieh al-Fawqa.
