DUBAI, – The 11th Emirati Media Forum highlighted the crucial role played by the UAE’s national media in strengthening public confidence, combating misinformation, and supporting national unity during recent regional developments.
Held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, the forum brought together senior government officials, media leaders, content creators, and communication professionals to examine the media’s response during times of crisis.
Speaking during the keynote session, Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, Chairman of the National Media Authority, said UAE media had demonstrated exceptional professionalism and readiness in addressing recent regional challenges. He noted that the sector serves as a vital partner in safeguarding public awareness and reinforcing trust in national institutions.
“The true measure of media success is not the volume of coverage, but the level of public trust it builds and its ability to provide reliable information during critical moments,” Al Hamed said.
Forum discussions emphasized how the UAE media effectively countered misinformation, delivered timely and accurate updates, and helped maintain social cohesion. Speakers credited the nation’s leadership for fostering a resilient media ecosystem capable of responding swiftly to evolving situations.
Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council and President of the Dubai Press Club, said the forum underscored the importance of protecting the UAE’s security, stability, and development achievements. She praised national media for presenting a transparent and professional narrative that reflected the unity of the Emirati people and their support for the country’s leadership.
A dedicated session featuring Brigadier General Staff Pilot AbdulNasir Al Humaidi, spokesperson for the UAE Ministry of Defence, explored the growing role of media in national security. He stressed that accurate information and rapid communication are essential tools in countering false narratives and maintaining public confidence during periods of uncertainty.
The forum also examined the UAE’s institutional resilience, economic stability, and preparedness for future challenges. Speakers including Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi and businessman Mohamed Alabbar highlighted the country’s strong governance, long-term planning, and ability to transform challenges into opportunities.
Closing the event, Dubai Press Club Director Maryam Al Mulla praised media professionals for their commitment to accuracy, credibility, and national service, noting that public awareness remains the first line of defence against misinformation in an increasingly complex digital landscape.
