The Mohammed Bin Rashid Library (MBRL) has marked its fourth anniversary with remarkable achievements, welcoming more than 2.5 million visitors since opening its doors and strengthening its position as one of the region’s leading cultural and knowledge hubs.
Since its inauguration, the library has attracted over 41,000 members across various categories and facilitated more than 53,000 book loans. It has also hosted nearly 11,000 visits by diplomatic, institutional, and school delegations, highlighting its growing role in promoting learning and cultural exchange.
MBRL’s vast collection includes more than 1.3 billion digital knowledge resources available in over 90 languages, alongside approximately 760,000 printed materials. The facility features nine specialized libraries and an Information Centre, serving researchers, students, readers, and knowledge enthusiasts of all ages.
Dr. Mohammed Salem Al Mazrooei, Board Member of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Library Foundation, described the anniversary as a significant milestone in the institution’s journey.
“The Library has strengthened its role as a leading cultural and knowledge institution and a dynamic platform that brings together knowledge, innovation, creativity, and community engagement,” he said.
Among its flagship initiatives, MBRL launched A World Reads, which has reached more than 500,000 people, and A World in Your Language, an artificial intelligence-powered project that provides translated content in 12 languages. The Knowledge Horizons initiative has also connected more than 8,600 students from Dubai’s public and private schools to leading digital knowledge databases.
The library has played a key role in preserving cultural heritage through the Dubai Archive initiative and the restoration of around 150 manuscripts at its dedicated Restoration Centre.
Over the past four years, MBRL has organized more than 750 cultural, literary, and educational events, earning several international accolades, including awards recognizing excellence in the application of artificial intelligence.
Looking ahead, the library plans to expand its publishing and translation programmes, strengthen international partnerships, and further enhance its digital content offerings.
