Washington/Tehran – The United States and Iran appear to be on the brink of a landmark peace agreement, with officials from both sides signaling that a deal is closer than ever, although final signatures have yet to be secured.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said a memorandum of understanding aimed at ending the conflict between Tehran and Washington “has never been closer,” while urging the media to refrain from speculation until the agreement is formally finalized.
His remarks were later reposted by US President Donald Trump on his Truth Social platform. Earlier, Trump had criticized reports circulating in Iranian state media about the contents of the proposed agreement, dismissing them as “fake news” and warning against premature disclosures.
Adding to the growing optimism, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, whose government has played a key mediating role in the negotiations, revealed that the “final, agreed-upon text of the peace deal has been reached.” However, he noted that several procedural and diplomatic steps still need to be completed before the agreement can be officially signed.
While hopes for peace continue to rise, tensions remain high across the region. Israeli military operations in Lebanon have persisted, with reports indicating that at least 3,711 people have been killed and 11,483 injured since March. Among the latest casualties were two paramedics wounded in attacks on Friday.
The anticipated agreement between Washington and Tehran is being closely watched around the world, with many hoping it could mark a significant turning point for stability in the Middle East.
