Iran launched a second wave of missiles towards Israel on Monday, according to the Israeli military, triggering air raid sirens across several parts of the country as regional tensions continued to intensify.
The missile attacks came in response to Israeli strikes inside Iran, with explosions reported in the cities of Tehran, Tabriz, and Isfahan. The latest exchange marks a significant escalation in the ongoing confrontation between the two regional rivals.
The situation worsened after Israeli forces carried out air strikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut on Sunday. The attacks reportedly killed at least two people and injured 20 others.
In retaliation, Iran launched a series of missiles targeting northern Israel, accusing Israel of repeatedly violating ceasefire agreements and further destabilising the region.
Amid growing fears of a wider conflict, United States President Donald Trump reportedly urged restraint during a telephone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Speaking to the Financial Times, Trump claimed that he was directing the diplomatic response, stating that he was “calling all the shots.”
The latest developments have raised concerns among international observers about the possibility of a broader regional war involving multiple countries across the Middle East.
