Abu Dhabi: — Dubai Police, in coordination with the Ministry of Interior, have played a pivotal role in dismantling the notorious Scottish criminal organisation known as the Lyons Clan, as part of a major international crackdown on money laundering and transnational organised crime.
The operation, conducted under the global initiative “Operation Armorum,” led to the arrest of a key syndicate member upon arrival at a Dubai airport, following the issuance of an Interpol Red Notice.
Led by Spain’s Guardia Civil, the coordinated effort resulted in the arrest of 14 suspects across multiple countries, highlighting the UAE’s strong commitment to international security cooperation and its advanced capabilities in tracking high-value criminal targets.
The operation brought together several leading law enforcement agencies, including Dubai Police, the Spanish Guardia Civil, Europol, the United Kingdom’s National Crime Agency, and the United States Drug Enforcement Administration. Through this collaboration, authorities successfully identified members of the network, dismantled its operational structure, and seized assets linked to its criminal activities.
Investigations revealed that the syndicate was heavily involved in drug trafficking and money laundering, with operations extending across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. The group utilised a complex network of shell companies and intricate financial systems to conceal and move illicit funds.
