The League of Arab States Council, meeting at the level of foreign ministers, has issued a strong and renewed condemnation of what it described as deliberate and unprovoked attacks by Iran against multiple Arab nations.
In a statement released following a virtual session chaired by Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, the Council denounced strikes targeting Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, and Iraq.
According to the Council, the attacks struck residential areas, vital infrastructure, diplomatic missions, and civilian facilities, constituting a serious violation of sovereignty and a direct threat to regional stability. It emphasized that such actions cannot be justified under any circumstances and warned of long-term consequences for Iran’s relations with Arab states.
The Council reaffirmed the right of the affected nations to defend themselves, individually or collectively, and expressed full confidence in their military and air defense capabilities. It also underscored the principle that Arab national security is indivisible, pledging unwavering solidarity with all targeted states.
Reference was made to United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026), which the Council said reflects global consensus on protecting sovereignty and maintaining international peace. Iran was urged to comply fully with the resolution, immediately cease hostilities, and avoid further escalation, including through proxy groups.
The statement also highlighted concerns over maritime security, condemning threats to navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandab. The Council warned that any disruption to these critical shipping routes could have severe implications for global energy supplies and international trade, calling on the international community to ensure safe passage.
Additionally, the Council demanded that Iran provide full compensation to victims for damages caused by the attacks and strongly rejected its alleged support for armed militias operating within Arab countries.
On Lebanon, the Council reaffirmed support for national sovereignty and welcomed recent government measures to restrict the activities of Hezbollah to the political sphere, stressing that all weapons must remain under state control. It also called on Israel to halt its military actions in Lebanon and comply with international resolutions.
Turning to the Palestinian issue, the Council reiterated its call for an end to Israel’s occupation of territories held since 1967 and urged renewed efforts toward a two-state solution, including the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital. It also emphasized the need to preserve the legal and historical status of holy sites in Jerusalem, including Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The Arab League concluded by calling for coordinated international action to de-escalate tensions, uphold international law, and secure long-term peace and stability across the Middle East.
