ABU DHABI: UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received a phone call from South African President Cyril Ramaphosa to discuss the serious military and security developments unfolding in the region and their implications for regional and international peace.
During the call, President Ramaphosa condemned what he described as blatant Iranian attacks targeting the UAE and other countries in the region, stating that such actions constitute a violation of international law and the UN Charter. He reaffirmed South Africa’s supportive stance toward the UAE amid the ongoing tensions.
Sheikh Mohamed expressed his appreciation for President Ramaphosa’s position and solidarity during the current circumstances.
Both leaders underscored the urgent need to halt military escalation and emphasised the importance of de-escalation through diplomatic channels to prevent further instability. They also warned of the broader risks the conflict poses to regional security, international trade routes, and the global economy.
