Dubai — Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) recorded an 18.74% year-on-year increase in electricity connection requests in 2025, underscoring the emirate’s accelerating economic and infrastructure expansion.

The utility received 9,786 applications for electricity connections across residential, commercial, and industrial projects through its streamlined Al Namoos service. The requests were processed in collaboration with 2,379 accredited consultants and contractors, reflecting robust activity across Dubai’s construction and development sectors.

Al Namoos facilitates electricity connections of up to 150 kilowatts through a simplified two-step process completed within five days, enhancing ease of doing business in the emirate.

Managing Director and CEO Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer said DEWA’s services align with the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which aims to position Dubai among the world’s top economic hubs.

“We provide programmes and initiatives that expand opportunities for project growth and streamline procedures to keep pace with Dubai’s population, urban, and economic growth,” Al Tayer said, adding that DEWA continues to ensure reliable electricity and water supply while reinforcing Dubai’s competitiveness.

Rashid Bin Humaidan, Executive Vice President of Distribution Power at DEWA, highlighted the authority’s investment in digital transformation. Through DEWA’s smart app and website, consultants and contractors can complete transactions securely and efficiently at any time.

The sustained rise in connection requests signals continued investor confidence and the growing demand for utilities infrastructure as Dubai advances its development ambitions.
