Dubai College of Tourism has marked five years of its official Dubai Tour Guide Programme, reinforcing its role in shaping visitor experiences as the city’s tourism sector continues to grow at pace.
Launched by the Dubai College of Tourism, part of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, the programme has trained more than 2,400 licensed tour guides from over 50 nationalities. The initiative provides the only official certification for tour guides in Dubai, enabling graduates to work with licensed tourism companies across the emirate.
To build on this milestone, the college is inviting UAE residents and Emiratis aged 18 and above to enrol in the fully online programme. Designed for flexibility, the self-paced course allows participants to study from anywhere and is currently offered in English and Mandarin.
The expansion comes as Dubai’s tourism sector records sustained growth. From January to November 2025, the city welcomed 17.55 million international overnight visitors, representing a five percent year-on-year increase. The programme supports this demand by creating a steady pipeline of qualified guides and maintaining high service standards across the industry.
Aligned with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, the initiative aims to strengthen Dubai’s position as a leading global destination for business and leisure. It also supports Emiratisation by encouraging greater participation from UAE nationals and creating flexible full-time, part-time, and freelance opportunities.
Upon completion, graduates receive an official tour guide licence after passing assessments that include a virtual interview and practical exam. Participants also gain access to optional familiarisation trips to key attractions, further enhancing their on-the-ground knowledge and professional networks.
