Dubai Airports has completed the installation of more than 520 Hearing Loops across Dubai International (DXB), marking the world’s largest rollout of the technology and reinforcing the airport’s goal of becoming the most accessible and inclusive in the world.
The advanced system enhances the travel experience for passengers with hearing loss, including those using hearing aids or cochlear implants. Installed at key points such as check-in counters, immigration desks, boarding gates, and information desks across all three terminals, the loops allow users to connect instantly by activating the telecoil setting on their device.
Majed Al Joker, Chief Operating Officer at Dubai Airports, said the project reflects a commitment to ensuring all guests can move through DXB with ease, dignity, and confidence. He credited the initiative to the collaborative effort of the oneDXB airport community, which includes partners such as Emirates, flydubai, Dubai Police, Dubai Customs, dnata, and Dubai Duty Free.
The installation was carried out in line with Dubai’s Universal Design Code, which requires public spaces to offer inclusive access. Airport operations continued without disruption during the rollout, and frontline employees received training to support travellers of determination.
Globally, more than 1.5 billion people live with some degree of hearing loss, a figure expected to rise to 2.5 billion by 2050, according to the World Health Organisation. Dubai Airports’ strategy aims to address these growing needs by combining infrastructure upgrades with staff training to ensure every passenger feels supported at every stage of their journey.
