Dubai’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has rolled out two new technical guides to strengthen teacher recruitment and accountability across the emirate’s private education sector.
The move is aimed at enhancing quality, transparency, and student wellbeing while building a more resilient teaching community.
The new Technical Guide for Appointing Teaching Staff sets clear standards for hiring and retaining qualified educators. It requires schools to secure Appointment Notices for every teacher, introduces a 90-day restriction on mid-term job changes, and mandates exit surveys to track turnover trends. Educators must also complete induction training and sign a Code of Conduct before starting any role.
Alongside this, the Staff Deregistration Technical Guide outlines procedures for removing staff involved in misconduct or repeated breaches of professional standards. Serious violations, including child protection issues and gross misconduct, can lead to permanent bans from KHDA-regulated institutions.
KHDA said the new measures support the Education 33 Strategy by empowering educators, safeguarding students, and reinforcing Dubai’s status as a global hub for quality education.
