Dubai has successfully completed the first test flight of the air taxi by Joby Aviation, marking a significant step forward in urban mobility.
Dubai Crown Prince, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, making the announcement on X, said that this test flight is part of broader preparations for the full-scale launch of air taxi services in 2026, reflecting Dubai’s ongoing drive to become a global hub for innovation and future-ready infrastructure.
The milestone was achieved through a collaboration between Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Joby Aviation, a leading U.S.-based developer of electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.
Sheikh Hamdan wrote, “A new achievement that shortens distances, enhances the quality of life in Dubai, and reshapes the features of sustainable and eco-friendly urban mobility. This pioneering project comes within the framework of ongoing efforts to strengthen the nation’s position as a leading hub for innovation and the adoption of the latest technologies.”
