Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority, has launched the sixth edition of the “Safe Summer” campaign as part of its strategy to enhance security, safety, road safety, and community happiness. The campaign will run until August 31, 2025, and aims to raise public awareness about the importance of adhering to preventive measures and essential safety requirements for a safe summer.

As part of the campaign, the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority will hold awareness programmes and field initiatives focused on preventing fires and accidents during the summer season. The campaign aims to raise public awareness of preventive measures and essential safety protocols, enhance fire and accident prevention efforts during the summer months, share awareness messages with parents on supervising children in swimming areas, encourage families to take necessary safety precautions at home, and remind drivers to check vehicle tyres and ensure their safety.

Focus on child safety in pools, parked vehicles
The police comprehensive summer awareness campaign aimed at educating the public on essential safety guidelines to ensure a safe and accident-free season. The campaign emphasises the importance of parental supervision, urging families not to leave children unattended in swimming pools or inside parked vehicles during shopping trips – practices that can lead to tragic incidents such as suffocation.
A core component of the campaign focuses on protecting children and teenagers from violent electronic games that foster aggression and may lead to serious psychological consequences, including addiction, isolation, and detachment from reality.

The awareness drive utilises a wide array of communication channels, including digital, audiovisual, and print media, as well as community gatherings and direct engagement with the public. It also provides practical advice and guidance for safe driving practices to prevent traffic accidents.

Residents planning to travel were advised to take preventive measures to avoid house fires and to store money and valuables securely, either in banks or well-protected safes, and to make use of smart systems linked to alarm devices.

Report safety violations through ‘Aman’ service
The Civil Defence Authority highlighted the community’s vital role in supporting preventive efforts, calling on both individuals and institutions to adhere to safety regulations and adopt responsible behaviours.

Police urged motorists to inspect their vehicle tires regularly to ensure they are free from damage or cracks that could lead to blowouts and serious accidents. Drivers were reminded to follow safety precautions to prevent vehicle fires caused by extreme summer heat. The public was encouraged to support security efforts by sharing information through the “Aman” service by calling 8002626, sending an SMS to 2828, or emailing [email protected].
