RTA Launches Traffic Upgrades at 40 Key Locations to Ease Congestion
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched a large-scale traffic improvement initiative across 40 critical locations in the emirate, with work set to run from June through September 2025.

The project targets 22 major streets, nine school zones, and several development and residential areas, timed to coincide with the summer holiday to minimise disruption.

The enhancements aim to boost traffic flow, road safety, and connectivity across Dubai, aligning with the city’s ongoing urban and economic expansion. Key upgrades will take place in areas such as Jumeirah Village Circle, Ras Al Khor Road, Al Thanya Street, and King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street.

In a focused effort to improve safety around schools, RTA is upgrading nine strategic zones. Measures include widening access roads, adding bus entrances, and installing signalised pedestrian crossings near major school complexes like those in Al Warqa and Al Safa.

Several fast-growing development zones will also see major improvements. These include direct access routes to labour camps in Al Muhaisnah, better connectivity between Al Khail Road and Al Asayel Street, and enhancements at Nad Al Hamar junction near Lootah Mosque. New parking facilities are also planned for the Zayed Educational Complex in Oud Al Muteena 1.

Internal roadworks will be completed in areas such as Tolerance District, Al Khawaneej 2, Nad Al Sheba, and Jebel Ali Industrial 1. Pedestrian walkways will also be added in the Al Quoz Creative Zone to enhance safety.

RTA stated that the project reflects its long-term commitment to sustainable urban mobility, with a focus on reducing travel times, easing congestion, and improving overall road safety across Dubai.
