Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed the final bridge at the Sheikh Rashid Road and Al Mina Street intersection, marking the full completion of the Al Shindagha Corridor Development Project—one of the city’s most transformative infrastructure upgrades.

The completion ensures uninterrupted traffic flow from Al Garhoud Bridge to Port Rashid via the Infinity Bridge and extends all the way to the Waterfront Market. The project has cut travel time along the corridor from 104 minutes to just 16 minutes, with some routes now taking as little as five minutes.

Serving over one million residents, the 13-kilometre corridor includes 15 intersections, 18 kilometres of bridges and tunnels, and boosts traffic capacity from 6,400 to 24,000 vehicles per hour. The RTA estimates the development will generate AED45 billion in economic benefits over the next two decades.

The final phase includes five bridges spanning 3.1 km, handling up to 19,400 vehicles per hour, as well as two pedestrian bridges for added safety. Major components such as the Falcon Intersection, Infinity Bridge, and Dubai Islands connections have redefined traffic movement in Bur Dubai and Deira.

The Infinity Bridge, with its iconic arch, stretches 295 metres and features 12 lanes, a cycling track, and a 75-metre navigation channel. A new 1,425-metre bridge over Dubai Creek will soon provide direct access from Bur Dubai to Dubai Islands.

Mattar Al Tayer, RTA’s Director-General, stated the project reflects the vision of Dubai’s leadership to enhance urban mobility and support long-term growth.

With 30 percent of the connecting tunnel from Infinity Bridge to Cairo Street already complete, RTA continues to push forward with strategic upgrades to ease congestion and improve connectivity across the emirate.
