Dubai Ramps Up Robot Delivery as Orders Now Arrive in Just 20 Minutes
Dubai’s innovative robot delivery service is set for expansion following the success of its pilot in Shobha Hartland.

Launched by Yango Technology in partnership with Roots and the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), the service has already seen impressive results.

Since the pilot began last month, more than 40% of customers opted for the fully electric robot to deliver their food and groceries. Nikita Gavrilov, regional head of Yango Tech Autonomy for the Middle East, highlighted the system’s efficiency, noting deliveries were consistently made within 20 minutes.

The robot, which can carry up to 60 litres, can navigate curbs up to 10 cm high and safely cross roads, giving way to pedestrians. It uses advanced sensors to avoid obstacles, including children running after it out of excitement. With a delivery range of 2 km and a quick turnaround, the service is making a significant impact on the speed and convenience of local deliveries.

Yango’s collaboration with Roots has been seamless, with staff easily integrating the robot into their workflow. Once an order is placed, the robot picks up and delivers it directly to the customer’s door, notifying them via WhatsApp upon arrival.

While the company is tight-lipped about specific future plans, Gavrilov sees great potential for scaling the service, especially in villa communities. He hopes more businesses will adopt the robot delivery method, emphasizing its simplicity and efficiency despite initial hesitation.

As the technology proves successful, Yango aims to extend its reach, bringing robotic delivery to more areas across Dubai in the near future.
