Medium pacer Mukesh Kumar was the hero as Delhi Capitals beat Lucknow Super Giants by eight wickets in the IPL on Tuesday.
Kumar took four wickets for 33 runs as Delhi restricted Lucknow to 159 for six.
In reply, Delhi reached home in just 17.5 overs, thanks to skipper KL Rahul’s unbeaten 42-ball 57 as all-rounder Axar Patel remained not out on 34 off 20 balls.
But it was Kumar who set up Delhi’s sixth win of the season with a brilliant spell of bowling.
“Enjoyed bowling on this wicket … kept speaking to the captain, the length ball was effective, was mixing it up with yorkers and slower ones,” said man of the match Kumar whose four victims included Mitchell Marsh, Lucknow’s top-scorer with a knock of 45 in the match.
“The best wicket was Mitchell Marsh, he was set and it was very important for the team that I got him out,” he said. “Very excited for this performance and hope to carry it forward.”
Delhi are now in second position in the points table with 12 points from eight matches with only Gujarat Titans (12 points) above them on better net run rate.
Lucknow are in fifth place with 10 points from nine matches.
