By Staff Reporter e& UAE has successfully conducted pioneering tests on the newly allocated 6 GHz and 600 MHz spectrum bands, marking a major milestone in the evolution of 5G connectivity in the country.
The tests, carried out using commercial-grade customer premises equipment (CPE), achieved ultra-fast speeds of up to 10 Gbps over 6 GHz, alongside extended 5G coverage beyond 6 km using the 600 MHz band.
The initiative follows recent spectrum allocations by the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA), aimed at enhancing the UAE’s digital infrastructure. These advancements promise to transform both residential and enterprise connectivity, enabling everything from 8K UHD streaming and virtual reality to wide-scale industrial IoT deployment.

TDRA’s 2024 spectrum allocation reinforces the UAE’s leadership in next-gen wireless innovation. A GSMA Intelligence study forecasts that 5G will contribute over US$610 billion to global GDP by 2030—with mid-band spectrum like 6 GHz expected to drive 65% of that growth.
