Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) has ordered the administrative closure of Mohammed Akter Supermarket located in the Musaffah Industrial Area.
The store was found to be in violation of Law No. (2) of 2008 regarding food safety regulations in Abu Dhabi, posing significant risks to public health.
According to ADAFSA, a recent food control report revealed multiple violations that prompted the closure decision. These violations included repeated high-risk issues directly impacting food safety, with the establishment failing to take effective corrective actions.
Insects
Specifically, the supermarket was cited for the presence of insects in the store and for displaying products without proper food labelling, resulting in a temporary suspension of its operations. In total, five violations were recorded against the supermarket.
The administrative closure will remain in place until the supermarket rectifies these issues and meets all required food safety standards. The store may resume operations once it addresses the violations and ensures the safety of its practices.
Report violations
ADAFSA explained that the closure is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen food safety in Abu Dhabi. Regular inspections by ADAFSA’s team ensure all food establishments comply with stringent safety standards. The Authority encourages the public to report any food safety violations or concerns by calling the Abu Dhabi Government’s toll-free number, 800555. ADAFSA is committed to safeguarding public health by ensuring that only safe and properly regulated food reaches consumers in the emirate.
