The two-time Grand Slam finalist won a tight three-set contest against Berrettini 7-6 (7/5) 1-6 6-4 in one hour and 57 minutes.
Greek star Stefanos Tsitsipas overcame mid-match woes to beat Italy’s Matteo Berrettini and reach his first tournament semifinal since July 2024.
The two-time Grand Slam finalist won a tight three-set contest against Berrettini, the 2021 Wimbledon runner-up, 7-6 (7/5) 1-6 6-4 in one hour and 57 minutes.
The fourth seed will now face Tallon Griekspoor of the Netherlands for a place in the final at a tournament where he twice finished runner-up.
Griekspoor knocked out top seed Daniil Medvedev of Russia with a three-set victory earlier on Thursday.
In what was a thrilling quarterfinal battle, Tsitsipas earned only one break of serve, which came in the deciding 10th game of the third set.
“It’s a great feeling to be back in the semifinals of a tournament. I played good tennis to reach the semis of one of the biggest 500 tournaments in the world,” the 26-year-old said.
“It was a difficult match today, there were lots of ups and downs. I thought my first set was a great effort, but I did not deliver in the second, I was pretty poor in the way I managed things.”
The match finished 15 minutes past midnight, and Tsitsipas thanked fans for staying back on the centre court to support him.
“I am super happy that I did my part and the crowd was also on my side, so thank you,” he said.
In the first quarterfinal on Thursday, Felix Auger-Aliassime of Canada beat Marin Cilic of Croatia 6-4 3-6 6-2.
In the first semifinal on Friday, Auger-Aliassime will face French qualifier Quentin Halys who defeated Italian Lucky Loser Luca Nardi 2-6 6-3 7-5.
