Sharjah Police warn against unauthorised fundraising, street vending and begging in Ramadan
Sharjah: As Ramadan approaches, the General Command of Sharjah Police have unveiled a thorough security and traffic plan aimed at ensuring the safety and well-being of both residents and visitors throughout the holy month.
This initiative seeks to strengthen public security, maintain order, and ease traffic flow across the emirate.
Brigadier Dr Ahmed Saeed Al Naour, Director General of Operations and Security Support at Sharjah Police, stressed the importance of community cooperation in maintaining security and curbing disruptive behaviours.
He said that the police are committed to providing a safe and peaceful environment by monitoring key locations such as Ramadan tents and mosques.
The plan also targets issues like unauthorised fund-raising, street vending, and begging, which can disturb public order. Specialised police teams will be stationed to offer assistance to the community, ensuring that safety concerns are promptly addressed.

Ensuring smooth traffic flow
Traffic congestion is often a challenge during Ramadan, particularly around mosques and crowded areas. To mitigate this, Sharjah Police will implement robust traffic management measures, especially during peak hours. Officers will be strategically stationed at key locations to control traffic, prevent illegal parking, and ensure the smooth flow of both vehicles and pedestrians.
Brigadier Dr Al Naour called on motorists to adhere to traffic regulations, drive safely, and avoid parking haphazardly near mosques and Ramadan tents, as such practices could lead to roadblocks and safety hazards.
Community involvement
In addition to on-the-ground efforts, Sharjah Police will launch widespread awareness campaigns across media outlets and digital platforms. These campaigns will focus on promoting safe driving, crime prevention, and encouraging active community involvement in maintaining security during Ramadan.
How to report
Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activities or violations by calling the police hotline at 80040, the emergency number at 999, or the non-emergency line at 901. This initiative aims to foster a collaborative relationship between the police and the community to ensure a safe and peaceful environment for everyone.
A commitment to Public Safety
As Ramadan is a time for reflection, spirituality, and community, Sharjah Police remain dedicated to protecting the public. By implementing this comprehensive security and traffic plan, they aim to create a safe environment where residents can observe the holy month in peace.
With strong collaboration between law enforcement and the community, Sharjah strives to uphold the values of safety, order, and unity, ensuring that Ramadan is a pleasant and secure experience for all.
