Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Nabati Poetry Festival continued its nineteenth session at the Cultural Center in Dhaid, with a diverse evening that explored personal themes and patriotic readings. The event honored the poets in the presence of Bati Al Mazloum, Director of the Al Hira Literary Council, along with media professionals and Dhaid’s local poets
Celebrating Sharjah and Al Dhaid’s beauty
The poets expressed admiration for Sharjah’s initiatives, particularly those of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, and praised Al Dhaid’s picturesque landscapes. Their poems intertwined emotional depth and the beauty of the city’s nature.
Poets and their performances
The evening was hosted by Rashid Al Qannas, featuring poets such as Nawal Salem (UAE), Mohammed Al Badi (Oman), Jawaher Burshid (Qatar), Marwa Al Sudairy (Saudi Arabia), Khaled Al Majed (Kuwait), and Talal Rashrash (Syria). Each poet offered a unique perspective on themes of homeland, longing, and nature.
Marwa Al Sudairy’s poetic journey
Marwa Al Sudairy’s poems explored the Emirates’ ambitions and the contrasts between snow and fire. He also highlighted the sorrow of departure and emotions tied to the airport in his poem “The Revolution of Confession.”
Nawal Salem’s poetic expression
Nawal Salem’s work reflected on unfulfilled promises, silences, and dreams. Her poems were infused with the sorrow of farewells and featured the evocative lyrics of Fairuz, Mohammed Abdu, and Abdul Karim Abdul Qader.
Mohammed Al Badi’s nostalgic verses
Mohammed Al Badi’s poems blended nostalgia with Shalat verses, invoking longing for the past, the sounds of birds, and late-night vigils. He also paid tribute to Emirati poet Salem Al Jamri.
Jawaher Burshid’s emotional reflections
Poet Jawaher Burshid’s work expressed complaints about drought, dryness, and emotional hardship. Her poems depicted the passing of time, seasonal changes, and the scarcity of rain.
Talal Rashrash on Al Dhaid’s beauty
Syrian poet Talal Rashrash described the serene beauty of Al Dhaid, focusing on the impact of cold weather and winter on the people and landscape.
Khaled Al Subaie’s patriotic poems
Khaled Al Subaie’s poetry captured the themes of patriotism, emotional struggles, longing, and the contemplation of absence. His poems echoed the eternal dialogue between past and present.
