Al Ain Court rules in favour of her, orders defendents to pay her Dh80,000
Al Ain: The Al Ain Court has ordered two young men to pay a woman Dh80,000 after being found guilty of assisting an overseas fraudster in a scam.
The woman was deceived into investing in a fraudulent scheme promoted via social media platforms.
The plaintiff filed a lawsuit demanding Dh71,000, compensation of Dh15,000, and 12 per cent interest from the filing date, along with fees and expenses.
She explained that an individual contacted her from an international number, offering an investment opportunity through social media platforms. She transferred Dh71,000 to the defendants’ accounts as part of the alleged investment.
Investigations later revealed that the scam was orchestrated by individuals abroad, and the two defendants were convicted in a related criminal case.
The court awarded the plaintiff Dh80,000, including Dh9,000 in compensation for material and emotional damages.
The defendants were also ordered to pay court fees and expenses, while other claims were dismissed.
