Alappuzha (Kerala): Five medical students tragically lost their lives when the car they were travelling in collided with a Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus in Kalarkod, Alappuzha district, Kerala.
Three students died on the spot, while two others succumbed to their injuries while being transported to the Alappuzha Medical College Hospital.
Two other students involved in the accident are currently admitted to the same hospital, with one of them reportedly in critical condition.
The accident occurred around 9pm on Monday when the Tavera car, reportedly travelling at high speed, skidded and crashed into the KSRTC bus, which was on its route from Guruvayur to Kayamkulam. Eyewitnesses confirmed that the car lost control before hitting the bus.
The deceased students have been identified as Mohammed Ibrahim, hailing from Lakshadweep, Sreedeep from Palakkad, Ayush Shaji from Alappuzha, Devanand from Malappuram and Mohammed Jabbar from Kannur.
All were first-year MBBS students at TD Medical College, Alappuzha.
