UAE National Day Break: Gen Z and Millennials Fuel Surge in Budget-Friendly Group Travel
Travel demand for the UAE’s National Day holiday has surged, with Gen Z and millennials leading the charge on budget-conscious adventures, say travel agents.
Popular destinations among young UAE residents are attracting a large share of bookings, often in groups to split costs and make travel more affordable.
“Young travelers, especially Gen Z, are prioritizing budget-friendly yet experience-rich trips,”
said Ashiya Nazar, CEO of Akbar Travels. Destinations that blend cultural activities, local cuisine, and adventure sports are in high demand. Packages aimed at travelers aged 22-27 range from Dh2,500 to Dh3,500, catering to those seeking economical yet unique experiences, according to a recent study by online travel agency Musafir.com.
The trend of group travel is rising as younger generations prioritize travel post-Covid, explains Muhammed Azeer, CEO of The Road Tales.
“Group trips allow individuals to share accommodation and activity costs, making travel accessible and cost-effective.”
Popular destinations for young UAE travelers include Thailand and Bali for beach retreats, Georgia and Azerbaijan for scenic escapes, and Istanbul for cultural immersion. However, visa-free countries like Russia, Georgia, and Armenia are increasingly preferred due to simplified visa processes and affordability.
Ticket prices for the holiday season have already seen a steep climb, with late bookings costing up to 50% more, says Kunaal Nanik, director of Marcopolo Holidays.
“Prices typically peak in September, reflecting demand for the UAE’s festive season,”
he noted.
As National Day approaches, Gen Z’s enthusiasm for travel continues to grow, underscoring their adventurous spirit and preference for shared, memory-making experiences.
