Dubai International Airport Sets Record with 44.9 million Guests in H1 2024
Dubai International Airport (DXB) reported a record-breaking 44.9 million guests in the first half of 2024, marking an 8% increase from the same period last year.
This surge underscores DXB’s status as a premier global gateway, bolstered by strong connectivity with key international markets, and highlights its crucial role in Dubai’s economic growth. The city attracted 9.31 million international visitors in H1 2024, aligning with GDP growth of 3.2%, reaching AED 115 billion in Q1 2024.
Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports, attributed the success to high demand from major markets like India, which saw 6.1 million passengers, and a significant rebound in Chinese travellers. DXB’s other top destinations included Saudi Arabia (3.7 million guests), the United Kingdom (2.9 million), and Pakistan (2.3 million).
The airport, connected to 269 destinations in 106 countries and served by 101 airlines, processed 216,000 flights and handled 39.7 million bags, a 6.7% year-on-year increase.
To enhance guest experiences, DXB is implementing new features such as colour-coded car parks, a signature aroma in the VIP Al Majlis area, and an advanced queue management system. The airport maintained high efficiency, with 98% of guests waiting less than 10 minutes at departure passport control and 95% at security screening.
These efforts are part of Dubai Airport’s commitment to operational excellence and providing seamless travel experiences, as the airport aims to surpass 91.8 million guests by the end of 2024.
