A 19-year-old Zimbabwean has displayed the country’s intellectual brilliance, resilience and academic excellence by securing four A*s in the United Kingdom’s A-Level examinations.
Sijabuliso Sibanda who arrived in the UK two years ago was a student at William Hulme’s Grammar School, gained a place to study Aerospace Engineering at the University of Manchester after achieving 4A* in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Computer Science.

Excelling in these areas requires not only a deep understanding of complex concepts but also the ability to apply this knowledge creatively and effectively in exams. Sijabuliso’s success in these subjects is a clear indication of his exceptional analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and intellectual curiosity.
This outstanding achievement is not just a personal victory but a source of pride for the entire Zimbabwean community as it serves as a powerful reminder of the potential that lies within the youth of Zimbabwe, and the heights they can reach when given the opportunity and support to excel.
Sijabuliso was over the moon with the results and paid tribute to his teachers and school.
‘I’m happy but I’m definitely going to miss Sixth Form. WHGS was the first school I went to in the UK and it was really fun. I’ll miss the teachers and the students’ he said.

The young Zimbabwean is a former student of Zimbabwe’s most successful school John Tallach.
