Sharjah: Sharjah Police’s Operations Centre swiftly responded to a critical situation when a driver’s cruise control system malfunctioned while travelling at 130km/h. The intervention by the police team ensured the driver’s safety and prevented any potential accidents.

Colonel Dr Hamdan Al Tunaji, Acting Director of the Operations Centre at Sharjah Police, said the centre received an emergency call reporting that a vehicle’s cruise control had failed on a road towards Al Dhaid. Immediately upon receiving the distress call, the Operations Centre contacted on-site patrols to secure the vehicle and escort it safely.

In the meantime, the staff at the Operations Centre worked to calm the driver, providing clear instructions on how to disengage the malfunctioning cruise control. Thanks to the guidance provided by the police, the driver was able to stop the vehicle safely and exit without any injuries. Patrol officers followed up to ensure the driver’s well-being.

Col Dr Al Tunaji urged drivers to conduct regular maintenance checks on their vehicles and ensure that all vehicle systems are in proper working order. He also reminded motorists of the critical importance of immediately contacting the Operations Centre on the emergency number 999 in the event of a technical malfunction or any other emergency on the road. By taking these precautions, drivers can safeguard themselves and others, ensuring the safety of all road users, he added.
