These records, which included sensitive user password data, were part of a breach that potentially impacted 140,000 entities worldwide. Among those affected were 634 entities in the UAE, including 30 government bodies, 13 private organisations, and others.
In response to the attack, the UAE’s cybersecurity systems were activated, collaborating with relevant authorities to mitigate the threat and ensure the security of the nation’s cyberspace.
The Cyber Security Council has urged all government and private institutions to strengthen their cybersecurity defenses, improve their cyber preparedness, and immediately report any suspicious activities.
The Council also highlighted the increasing sophistication of cyber threats, stressing the need for heightened caution and the adoption of best security practices to combat evolving digital risks.
This announcement follows a similar event on January 17, when UAE cybersecurity systems successfully countered nearly 200,000 daily ransomware attacks.
These incidents underscore the increasing frequency and complexity of cyber threats, emphasising the importance of continuous vigilance and proactive security measures to safeguard the nation’s digital landscape.
