The UAE has reinforced its role as a leading supporter of women’s empowerment, marking the 15th anniversary of UN Women alongside the first year of their strategic partnership framework.
Since UN Women’s founding in 2010, the UAE has contributed nearly $60 million to its core budget, making it the largest donor from the Arab States region. The 2024-2027 UAE-UN Women Strategic Partnership Framework, launched with a $15 million pledge, aligns national priorities with UN Women’s global plan for advancing gender equality.
Officials highlighted the milestone as a reflection of the UAE’s consistent commitment to supporting women at home and abroad. Noura Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Secretary-General of the General Women’s Union, credited the vision of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak for placing women’s empowerment at the center of national progress.
Dr. Mouza Al Shehhi, Director of the UN Women Liaison Office for the GCC, described the partnership as transformative, noting that it has already delivered tangible results improving the lives of women and girls worldwide.
