A UAE delegation inaugurated the Islamic Academy in Tokmok, Kyrgyzstan, on Monday, acting on the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in the presence of President Sadyr Japarov.
The initiative, supported by H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan and overseen by H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, reflects the UAE’s commitment to advancing higher education and promoting the values of tolerance and dialogue.
Built by the Zayed Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation at a cost exceeding $5 million, the academy features modern classrooms and resources to strengthen university and postgraduate education. It aims to prepare highly qualified staff, enhance educational competitiveness, and foster cultural and intellectual exchange.
President Japarov commended the UAE’s humanitarian contributions and said the academy would provide thousands of young people with valuable opportunities, describing the initiative as a testament to the friendship between the two nations.
The academy will offer programmes free of charge through government grants as well as on a fee-paying basis. Its curriculum is designed to clarify authentic Islamic concepts while instilling values of tolerance, justice, and compassion.
According to Muhanna Obaid Al Muhairi, Deputy Director General of the foundation, the institution represents a pioneering educational model that will act as a beacon of knowledge and prepare future generations to face contemporary challenges with confidence and ethical foundations.
Classes are set to begin this academic year, underlining the UAE’s belief in education as a cornerstone of development and a legacy inspired by the vision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
