UAE Central Bank Unveils New AED100 Polymer Banknote with Advanced Security Features
The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) has launched a newly designed AED100 polymer banknote, integrating advanced security features and sustainable materials.

This issuance aligns with the nation’s leadership vision and commitment to financial innovation.

Part of the Third Issuance of the National Currency Project, the new banknote embodies the UAE’s economic progress while preserving its rich cultural heritage. Maintaining its signature red hue for easy public recognition, the note features intricate aesthetic elements created using cutting-edge printing techniques.

The front showcases the Um Al Quwain National Fort, a symbol of the country’s historical legacy. On the reverse, the Port of Fujairah, a major maritime hub, and Etihad Rail, a transformative infrastructure project linking the seven Emirates and the GCC, highlight the UAE’s strategic connectivity.

Security enhancements include SPARK Flow DIMENSIONS and KINEGRAM COLORS, designed to combat counterfeiting. Additionally, tactile symbols in Braille support visually impaired users. The polymer material extends the banknote’s lifespan, reinforcing sustainability efforts.

The new AED100 note will circulate alongside existing versions starting today. Financial institutions have been instructed to update their systems for seamless acceptance.

Marking another milestone, the CBUAE has previously received the ‘Best New Banknote’ award for its AED500 and AED1000 notes. On this occasion, Governor Khaled Mohamed Balama emphasized the note’s role in supporting Net Zero goals and strengthening the UAE’s financial standing, adding that its release coincides with Eid Al-Fitr celebrations.
