The United Arab Emirates and Indonesia have launched a new phase of their strategic partnership on government modernisation, unveiling initiatives to build digital talent and strengthen leadership capacities in Jakarta.
At the Government Knowledge Exchange Forum, the two nations announced the “10 Million Indonesian Coders” programme, aimed at equipping Indonesian youth with coding and digital skills to thrive in the global economy. Alongside this, the Executive Leadership Programme was introduced to develop the capacity of senior Indonesian government officials in areas such as digital transformation, sustainable growth, and agile leadership.
Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, UAE Minister of Cabinet Affairs, said the initiatives reflect the UAE’s vision of investing in people and preparing societies for the future through innovative models of international cooperation. He highlighted that building leadership and coding communities has become a key pillar of the UAE’s global partnerships.
Abdulla Nasser Lootah, Assistant Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Competitiveness and Experience Exchange, stressed that the forum marked a qualitative step forward in the UAE–Indonesia partnership, offering a platform to review achievements and explore new opportunities for cooperation.
Dr. Nezar Patria, Indonesia’s Vice Minister for Communications and Informatics, underlined his country’s priorities in digital education, innovation, and entrepreneurship, noting that the partnership with the UAE supports Indonesia’s long-term transformation goals.
The forum brought together senior officials from both governments to exchange best practices in strategy, innovation, competitiveness, and artificial intelligence. It builds on the UAE’s Government Experience Exchange Programme, launched in 2018, which has since facilitated partnerships worldwide to strengthen institutional capacity and government performance.
