ABU DHABI — The United Arab Emirates’ air defence systems successfully intercepted nine ballistic missiles and 33 drones launched from Iran on Saturday, March 14, 2026.
According to the UAE Ministry of Defence, since the start of what officials described as “blatant Iranian attacks,” the country’s defence systems have intercepted a total of 294 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles, and 1,600 drones targeting the UAE.
Authorities confirmed that the attacks have resulted in six fatalities, involving nationals from the UAE, Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh. In addition, 141 people sustained minor to moderate injuries, including individuals of Emirati, Egyptian, Sudanese, Ethiopian, Filipino, Pakistani, Iranian, Indian, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, Azerbaijani, Yemeni, Ugandan, Eritrean, Lebanese, Afghan, Bahraini, Comorian, Turkish, Iraqi, Nepali, Nigerian, Omani, Jordanian, Palestinian, Ghanaian, Indonesian and Swedish nationalities.
The Ministry of Defence reiterated that the UAE remains fully prepared to respond to any threat, stressing that the armed forces will firmly confront any attempts to undermine the country’s security, sovereignty and stability, while safeguarding its national interests and strategic capabilities.
