Abu Dhabi, 26 November 2025 — Hon. Lt. Gen. (Rtd) Yacoub Hassan Mohamed, Ambassador of the United Republic of Tanzania to the UAE, yesterday  hosted Hon. Mussa Azzan Zungu, Speaker of the National Assembly of Tanzania, at the Tanzanian Embassy offices for bilateral talks focused on advancing cooperation between Tanzania and UAE.

During the meeting, the two leaders exchanged views on the current state of Tanzania–UAE relations, highlighting the growing partnership in political, economic, and social spheres. The discussions placed special emphasis on strengthening collaboration between the Parliaments of both countries as an essential pillar of deepening bilateral ties.

Following the Embassy discussions, Ambassador Mohamed and Speaker Zungu proceeded to the Federal National Council (FNC) headquarters, where they were received by Hon. Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the UAE Federal National Council. Several senior UAE parliamentary leaders and officials from the Tanzanian Embassy were also in attendance.

The trilateral talks underscored the shared commitment of both nations to enhance inter-parliamentary engagement. Leaders explored opportunities for cooperation in legislative development, oversight strengthening, and policy exchange aimed at promoting good governance and institutional effectiveness.

A key outcome of the discussions was the proposal to establish a Permanent Cooperation Committee between the National Assembly of Tanzania and the UAE Federal National Council. Once formalized, the committee will serve as a structured platform for coordinating joint parliamentary initiatives, including exchange visits for Members of Parliament and parliamentary leaders.

The proposed committee will also promote knowledge-sharing, capacity-building, and strategic dialogue to support both legislatures in addressing contemporary governance challenges.

Both sides reaffirmed their dedication to advancing Tanzania–UAE relations, noting that strengthened parliamentary cooperation will further enhance mutual understanding, foster national development objectives, and contribute to long-term diplomatic partnership.
