The Tanzanian national football team, Taifa Stars, has touched down in Dubai ahead of their highly anticipated international friendly match against Iran’s National Football Team, scheduled for Tuesday, 14 October, at the Shabab Al Ahli Stadium Mamzar in Dubai.
The team landed in high spirits, with players expressing confidence and readiness to take on the formidable Asian side. Coach Hemed Suleiman , speaking exclusively to Daily Times News shortly after arrival, said the squad has been training intensively and is looking forward to showcasing their talent on an international stage.
“The boys are ready. We’ve worked on our tactical approach and we are focused on giving a strong performance against Iran. This match is a good test for us,” Suleiman remarked.
The friendly comes after Tanzania’s scheduled World Cup qualification fixture against Eritrea was cancelled, following Eritrea’s disqualification from the qualifiers. The unexpected development opened up an opportunity for Taifa Stars to arrange a high-profile friendly to maintain match fitness and momentum.
Iran, currently ranked among Asia’s top footballing nations, promises to offer a stern challenge, giving the Tanzanian side a valuable chance to measure their progress.
The match is set to kick off at 7:00 PM local time, with fans in Dubai and across the continent expected to follow the action closely.
