Dubai: Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, has revealed details of the Dubai Loop project, a cutting-edge transportation initiative that will be developed in collaboration with Elon Musk’s The Boring Company.
The project was announced during Musk’s session at the World Governments Summit 2025 on Thursday morning.
A couple of hours later, Sheikh Hamdan took to Musk’s X to reveal more details about the underground transportation system which Musk said would be “like a wormhole.”
Sheikh Hamdan said the project is “set to revolutionise transportation.”
RTA signs MoU
On the sidelines of the World Governments Summit an MoU was signed between Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) andThe Boring Company, he said.
Under the MoU, “Dubai will explore the development of the 17-kilometre project,” revealed Sheikh Hamdan.
He also announced that there will be 11 stations for the tunnel which will have a capacity to transport over 20,000 passengers per hour.
Sheikh Hamdan said “the project reflects Dubai’s commitment to advancing new cutting-edge mobility solutions.”
