Sharjah24: Sheikh Hamad bin Saif Al Sharqi, Deputy Ruler of Fujairah, crowned the Sharjah Team as the champions of the opening round of the World Powerboat Championship, organised by the Fujairah International Marine Sports Club.
Khalid bin Dismal, a board member of the Dubai International Marine Club; Thamir Safwan, the CEO of the Saudi Marine Sports Federation; and Ahmed Ibrahim Al Bloushi, the CEO of the Fujairah International Marine Club, were present at the awarding ceremony.
Sharjah Team seizes victory
The Victory Team dominated the race for the initial seven laps, yet the Sharjah Team took control on the eighth lap.
Sharjah Team, under the leadership of Konstantin Ustinov and Shaun Torrente, achieved their inaugural victory of the season, securing the top position in the opening round with a total of 35 points after completing the race in 42:11.86 minutes.
Victory Team and British Team secure podium spots
The Victory Team, led by Salem Al Adidi and Issa Al Ali, secured second place, finishing just 16 seconds behind the leaders and accumulating 30 points with a time of 42:28.36 minutes.
The British team, under the leadership of Scott Williams and Martin Campbell, achieved third place, holding their position throughout the race and finishing 20 seconds behind the runners-up with a time of 42:32.02 minutes.
Excitement builds for the final race
The focus shifts to the second race on Monday, which will wrap up the opening round of the World Powerboat Championship. We anticipate a fierce and exciting contest to determine the champion of the initial stage as the standings remain close.
