Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will open a new entry and exit point to Al Warqa from Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road early next week, aiming to significantly improve traffic flow and reduce commute times in the area.
The new access point is expected to handle an additional 5,000 vehicles per hour, slashing travel time by 80%—from 20 minutes to just 3.5 minutes—and cutting journey distances from 5.7 km to 1.5 km. The move forms part of a larger infrastructure initiative to boost connectivity and mobility across the Al Warqa district.
Recent upgrades include traffic improvements on Street 13 in Al Warqa 1, as part of an 8 km internal road development plan. These enhancements are designed to support daily commuters, school zones, and overall traffic efficiency, aligning with Dubai’s broader urban planning goals.
In Al Warqa 3 and 4, RTA has extended pedestrian walkways, paved roads, added parking spaces, and implemented over 23 km of cycling tracks to encourage sustainable mobility. A 7.4 km cycle track also supports residents of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Housing Establishment project in Al Warqa 4, where 136 villas have been connected with upgraded access points and lighting systems.
The next phase of works will see roundabouts in Al Warqa 1 converted into smart signalised junctions, expected to boost traffic flow by 30% by year-end.
RTA’s development efforts follow a series of community engagement sessions with Al Warqa residents, helping shape infrastructure solutions that directly address local needs. The authority has reaffirmed its commitment to building an integrated, resident-focused transport network that supports Dubai’s vision of sustainable urban growth.
