Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has rolled out rapid traffic improvement measures across eight strategic locations as part of its 2026 plan to enhance road efficiency, reduce congestion, and improve safety amid the emirate’s continued urban growth.

The initiative forms part of a broader programme featuring more than 45 traffic enhancement projects aimed at strengthening mobility across Dubai’s expanding road network. The upgrades focus on major corridors and intersections experiencing heavy traffic due to rising population density and vehicle numbers.

Key locations covered include Emirates Road towards Wadi Al Amardi Street, Umm Amara Street linking Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Wasl Street, Jebel Ali–Lehbab Street, and the area between Sama Al Jaddaf and Al Jaddaf Waterfront near Al Jaddaf Metro Station. Additional works are underway on Al Na’ayat Street in Al Barsha 1, near Al Maktoum School in Al Satwa, at the Al Ittihad Street–Al Quds Street intersection, and along Sheikh Rashid Street towards Bur Dubai.

According to the RTA, the improvements are expected to reduce congestion and cut travel times by 15 to 30 percent once completed, improving commuting efficiency across key routes.

The upgrades include widening roads, converting roundabouts into signalised intersections, adding new road connections, expanding parking near schools and essential facilities, and introducing enhanced safety measures. Project selection is based on traffic studies, real-time monitoring, and field inspections to ensure targeted solutions at congestion hotspots.
