l battery-swapping stations for electric bikes across the emirate, marking a regional first aimed at advancing sustainable commercial transport.
The project will be rolled out in partnership with Terra Tech Ltd, a MENA-based start-up specializing in battery-swapping technology. The initiative is designed to support delivery companies by offering cost-efficient, eco-friendly alternatives to traditional fuel-powered fleets.
RTA said the integrated system will ease the delivery sector’s transition to electric solutions, helping operators cut both emissions and ownership costs. The plan aligns with Dubai’s Commercial and Logistics Land Transport Strategy 2030, which targets a 30% reduction in carbon emissions through infrastructure development at 36 key locations.
Ahmed Mahboob, CEO of RTA’s Licensing Agency, highlighted the broader impact of the project, noting that it would reduce emissions, minimise noise pollution, and improve service quality for residents and businesses alike. He called on delivery companies to embrace the initiative as part of Dubai’s sustainable transport vision.
Husam Al Zammar, CEO of Terra Tech Ltd, welcomed the partnership and praised RTA’s leadership in building sustainable infrastructure. He emphasized the importance of the delivery sector in contributing to Dubai’s economy and expressed confidence in the potential of battery-swapping stations to reshape the industry.
The rollout reflects Dubai’s growing push to adopt future-ready mobility solutions and reinforce its position as a leader in sustainable urban transport.
