Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed traffic works at 10 school-zone sites, benefiting 27 schools across the emirate during the summer break.
The upgrades are part of RTA’s wider strategy to improve safety, ease congestion, and enhance mobility in school areas.
The works covered zones in Al Warqa, Al Safa, Al Barsha, Al Garhoud, Al Mizhar, Al Qusais, and Al Barsha South. Enhancements included road widening, new entrances and exits, additional parking spaces for staff and parents, pedestrian signals, and traffic-calming measures.
According to RTA, the project boosted parking capacity by up to 90% at some schools and improved traffic flow around others by 25% to 40%. The authority noted that the works align with Dubai’s urban growth and commitment to safe, efficient infrastructure.
RTA said the improvements serve a wide range of road users, including teaching staff, parents, and bus drivers, while contributing to a safer environment for students. It continues to roll out swift traffic solutions in other school areas as part of its 2025 strategic plan, developed in coordination with Dubai Police.
The authority also urged parents and drivers to follow traffic rules around schools, avoid random parking, and comply with safety signs to ensure an accident-free environment for students.
