President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Her Excellency Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan, is using the World Governments Summit (WGS) 2026 in Dubai to strengthen Tanzania’s global profile and unlock new economic opportunities.
On the second day of the summit, President Samia met with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai. The meeting reviewed the strong bilateral relations between Tanzania and the UAE and explored ways to further enhance cooperation in key areas including economic development, investment, trade, infrastructure, and cultural exchange.
President Samia also took part in a high-level panel discussion titled “The Future of Investment in Africa”, where she highlighted Tanzania’s investment potential and the country’s commitment to creating a stable, investor-friendly environment. Her participation underscored Tanzania’s ambition to position itself as a key destination for global capital and strategic partnerships.
The World Governments Summit, held under the theme “Shaping Future Governments,” provides an important international platform for Tanzania to engage with world leaders, policymakers, global investors, and development partners. On the sidelines of the summit, the Global Africa Investment Summit (GAIS) — founded by former African Development Bank President Dr Akinwumi Adesina — is connecting bankable African projects with international investors, further opening doors for Tanzania’s economic growth.
Hosted annually by the United Arab Emirates, the World Governments Summit brings together Heads of State and Government, international institutions, private sector leaders, academics, and policy innovators from around the world. President Samia’s participation is widely seen as a strategic move to put Tanzania firmly on the global map, promote investment, and expand economic cooperation for sustainable national development.
