ABU DHABI, — The National Human Rights Institution (NHRI) has carried out a field inspection of a workers’ accommodation facility in Abu Dhabi, as part of its ongoing programme to monitor living conditions and safeguard workers’ rights in line with national laws and international human rights conventions.
The visit was led by Fatima Al Bedwawi, Member of the NHRI Board of Trustees, accompanied by fellow board members Dr. Abdulaziz Al Noman, Dr. Zayed Al Shamsi, Ameera Al Suraidi, Noor Al Suwaidi, and Dr. Saeed Al Ghfeli, Secretary-General of the NHRI, along with several officials.
This marks the eighth inspection under a wider national plan to assess workers’ accommodations across all emirates, with the aim of fostering a culture of human rights and enhancing collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
During the visit, the delegation met with workers to listen to their perspectives on living and working conditions, enabling the NHRI to make informed assessments and provide targeted recommendations to further strengthen the protection and promotion of workers’ rights in the UAE.
