His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, has launched the Mohammed bin Rashid Endowment District, a landmark AED4.7 billion urban development designed to merge modern living with sustainable philanthropy.
The first of its kind in the region, the district spans two million square feet and integrates residential, healthcare, and education facilities under a unified vision. Developed by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) with support from Azizi Developments, the project aims to create a lasting funding model for global healthcare and education initiatives.
Sheikh Mohammed said the district represents “an urban model that embodies our vision of endowments as a tool that multiplies the value of giving and leaves a lasting impact on people’s lives.” He added that it reflects the UAE’s ethos of compassion, generosity, and solidarity.
The development includes a 250-bed hospital capable of handling over 90,000 cases annually, a medical college, two schools with a capacity of 5,000 students, and 25 endowment buildings offering more than 2,000 residential units. Designed to host over 12,000 residents and visitors daily, the district will also feature green spaces, retail outlets, and community facilities to promote a high quality of life.
Mohammad Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Secretary-General of MBRGI, said the project redefines charitable work by anchoring it in endowment-based investment. Mirwais Azizi, Chairman of Azizi Developments, called it a milestone in leveraging real estate for humanitarian goals.
The Mohammed bin Rashid Endowment District stands as a pioneering model of sustainable giving, setting a new benchmark for integrating development, community, and philanthropy in the UAE.
