Israel releases Palestinian prisoners to Gaza, West Bank, Egypt

Hundreds of Palestinians held in Israeli jails arrive at the European hospital in Gaza as Israel releases the remaining 642 Palestinian detainees scheduled to be freed in the first phase of the ceasefire deal with Hamas.
Emotional scenes in the occupied West Bank as dozens of Palestinian prisoners who had been serving life and long sentences reunite with their families. Israel deports 97 others to Egypt.
Earlier, Hamas handed over the bodies of four captives to Israel via the Red Cross. Israel says the identification process for the captives is under way.
Gaza’s Health Ministry has confirmed 48,348 Palestinian deaths in Israel’s war on Gaza, while 111,761 people have been wounded. The Government Media Office updated its death toll to at least 61,709, saying thousands of Palestinians missing under the rubble are presumed dead. At least 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the October 7, 2023, Hamas-led attacks, and more than 200 were taken captive.
