Israeli forces killed more than 50 Palestinians, including at least seven children, across Gaza on Friday during attacks on besieged Gaza City.
Israel’s assault on the northern urban centre continued into the early hours of Saturday, with deadly strikes reported on Palestinian homes.
Israel’s defence minister says the “gates of hell” are opening in Gaza as the military destroyed a high-rise tower in a densely populated part of the city.
Since the start of the war in October 2023, at least 64,300 people have been killed and 162,005 wounded across Gaza. Thousands more are believed to be under the rubble. A total of 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the October 7 attacks, and about 200 were taken captive.
