UAE national carriers have begun operating exceptional flights as authorities implement a controlled and partial reopening of the country’s airspace, placing safety and coordination at the forefront following recent regional developments.

The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) confirmed that limited flight operations have resumed across UAE airports to facilitate the departure of stranded passengers. Flights are operating strictly according to schedules communicated directly by airlines. Travellers have been strongly advised not to proceed to airports without confirmed departure timings to prevent congestion and ensure smooth operations.

Airline Updates

  • Etihad Airways has restarted limited operations from Abu Dhabi. However, all regular commercial passenger services remain cancelled. The airline clarified that repositioning, cargo, and repatriation flights may operate, subject to rigorous operational and safety approvals. Full services will only resume once all safety benchmarks are satisfied.
  • In Dubai, Dubai Airports announced a partial reopening of Dubai International Airport and Al Maktoum International Airport from the evening of March 2. Passengers are urged to await direct airline communication before heading to the airport.
  • Emirates and flydubai confirmed they will operate a limited number of flights, prioritising previously booked passengers. Customers will be contacted directly regarding rebookings and updated schedules.
  • Abu Dhabi Airports also confirmed a partial resumption of services at Zayed International Airport, in coordination with relevant authorities and airline partners.

Authorities emphasised that strict adherence to airline instructions remains critical to maintaining order and safeguarding passenger wellbeing during the phased resumption.
