The total labour force across GCC countries has reached 31.8 million, representing 54.2% of the total population, according to recent data from the Statistical Centre for the Cooperation Council for the Arab Countries of the Gulf (GCC-Stat).
Key Workforce Statistics
Male workforce: 78.7% of total workers
Female workforce: 17.6%, marking steady growth in gender inclusion
Working GCC citizens: 5.6 million, or 23.4% of the total labour force
Male citizens: 60%
Female citizens: 40% (600,000 increase since 2011)
Employment Distribution
Government Sector: 83.5% of GCC nationals employed in public administration
Private Sector: 14.2% of Gulf citizens, with localisation initiatives promoting national workforce participation

GCC countries are implementing strategic initiatives to address population imbalances, economic diversification, and youth employment, including:
